Nothing Better

Blogger.
Bebo.
LinkedIn.
MSN, Yahoo, Gmail.
Facebook, myspace, Twitter et al
Countless. Nameless. Social sites.

I'm here, I'm there, my life online. All over the frikkin place.
Legion names, faceless personas, multiple personalities.

Nothing better to do today, so I find myself back here.
The old stalwart. The first, the 'always there'.
And once again I find the need to post to keep this place 'alive'. I added Blogs of Note, and notice that K is still going strong. The lad is a keeper!
Wonder what happened to all the others?

6 Months Down

It's been exactly 6 months since I started my new job.
Still there!
Still going strong!! In fact, I'm managing to do quite well. There was no rocky start, the only thing of note was trying to suss out the business processes and the culture of the place.

But now my ideas are beginning to take shape and the site I'm building is coming along just fine.

All good.

Paid!

The holiday was paid in full today. Gran Canaria here we come!!!

I cannot wait! Well, I can, and I have to. 11 weeks to be exact.
Boo.
But even if I can't muster up another penny, the holiday is all-inclusive, so at least we'll get fed every day!!!

Hi from Oz!

I got a surprize call today from my friend in Australia. I was out in the office gardens having a lovely tuna salad lunch (was a hot day, and in Scotland you take it) when my mobile went off.

To say I was pleasantly surprized is the understatement of the year. Like a Roman in Pompei saying 'did you hear something there?' Heh heh.

She's coming over in July/August and wants to meet for a party. I'm on holiday then, so I said so, but thankfully she's staying until the end of August so I'll see her then.
It was a quick call, hey it was 2am over her way and she made the call!! She knows all about my 'life news' so no doubt we'll talk about that. A mucha-sexy shoulder to cry on.

I love her, I love her, I love her! My bestest buddy ever, and I simply cannot wait to see her again. I've missed sooo much her since she was last here.

I'm climing the walls here in anticipation!!

Fluff and Nonsense, and Hiya!

Well, 14 weeks until the holiday, a mere 3 weeks to pay for it!

Hey, I remember I used to write here when I had a cold, or I got bashed in kickboxing (or I won), and loads of other trivial moments were also recorded for posterity.
That was when blogging took off for the masses and not just for the journalistic amongst us.

Most of my blogging friends have given up on the idea, and a few remain strong with it, posting on a regular basis, and must be up to the many thousands of posts over the years.

My blogging has been sporadic to say the least, not just because my family, home, and working life have been suffering mass upheaval. It's been an angsty and antsy time to say the very least, and most of it is unrecordable here, unfortunately. Hey, this is a blog, not a psychological outpouring mechanism where my dirty washing is put out to dry for all to eventually stumble across. Been there. Done that.

I say this every-so-often, that I will continue with this, and I'm being (kinda) true to my word, haven't I? Still here, still doing it, still at it, still plugging along.

I got a comment from a very good blogging pal from back in the old days. That was very well received, so if you're reading, HIYA, VAL, love ya!!!

Black Spirit

So what do you think? It's my work's awards ceremony next weekend so I thought I'd go in a wee bit of style.
The Black Spirit Tartan is becoming the de-facto contemporary tartan of choice. Well, I think so anyway!

I'll tell you all about the night next week.

Tunnel Vision Episode

I had a weird episode earleir today.

There I was, talking away as you do, when I got this very strange sensation. It started with, well you know that way when you've had a good early morning stretch. I got a little dizzy, then my vision started to close in on me until all I could see was about as much as a face in front of me - a mere pinprick of vision. All around this was a swirly, paisley-patterned thing going on.
Scary.
This lasted for about 10 minutes and I thought I was fine.
Then I decided to walk to the other end of the house where I discovered I had a wierdo 'double-vision' thing going. My right eye seemed to be 'lagging behind' my left eye. When I tipped my head to the side things got worse on one side and better on the other.

I lay down and shut my eyes for half an hour and it got slightly better, so then I went for a snooze. Two hours later I awoke and all was well again.

Very strange. Very scary. Not good.

Khublia Khan

Found an absolutely brilliant eating joint.
In Glasgow there's a place called Khublia Khan that I urge you to go visit when you're here.

The place is a riot. You get to order a starter and a desert in the normal restauranty fashion, waiter at bay. For the main meal, yer on yer own. Here's how it works:

You walk over to the meals section - this is an all you can eat affair, as many portions as you can stuff yourself with - where you select rice or noodle for your bowl.
Over you then go for your vegetable selection. All the veg is there, including the eastern varieties such as bamboo shoots etc.
You then choose as much as you like from the meat and fish counter, and this is where you can choose from shark, crocodile, springbok, kangaroo, wildboar, yak and zebra, as well as the usual chicken, beef and rabbit.
From there, you are over to the oils, herbs and spices where you make your own. Of course for the culinary challenged, you do get a recipe board to help out.

You then hand your dish - and this is in the literal sense - to chef and he makes your dinner on a massive barbeque hotplate - and get this... with swords!

Go. It's fantastic. It really is.

Nokia N95

I ordered my new phone yesterday. The Nokia N95.

I ordered the phone just the morning before, and was surprised to find a card from DHL re an attempted delivery the next day. Nice one.
So off I trotted - 40 miles to be exact - to the depot where I picked it up.

Loving it!

Obsolete Skills

Found this little gem on the blogosphere.

Over the years we've developed skills that are no longer required. There's a wiki out there that details loads of these now redundant skillsets, included dialing a rotary phone, using carbon paper to make copies, and changing the gas mixture on your car's carburetor. Or how about things we no longer have to deal with, like resolving IRQ conflicts on a mother board, assembly language programming, and stacking a quarter on an arcade game to indicate you have next - remember that one?

Ah, here's no memories. Read the wiki here.
